About Us
We aim to provide you with a study programme planned to meet your individual needs. If you are between 16 and 19, you will be treated as a young adult and we will encourage you to take increasing responsibility for your personal and academic life. At all times we will offer you our maximum support. We will obviously place great emphasis on helping you to achieve the examination success for which you are aiming. We will also encourage you to develop fully your own interests and career ambitions.
In the college we have excellent facilities for you to enjoy extra-curricular activities including music, dance, drama and sport. There is a well-stocked library, good private study facilities, easy access to 'state of the art' computing technology and a pleasant student common room.
We believe you will agree with our current students - that the College is a stimulating place in which to continue your education.
We look forward to receiving your application and to welcoming you into our College community.
How is John Leggott College different to school
There are some similarities between school and our College but there are also a great many differences.
One big difference is that students who attend College do so voluntarily since they have chosen to continue their education. As there is no uniform of any sort you can choose what is appropriate for you to wear, providing it is clean and tidy.
While many schools soundbells to mark the start and end of lessons, the College does not. You have the responsibility yourself for arriving on time.
The teaching and tutorial groups are generally much smaller than those in your school.
There are excellent facilities for you to use both in and out of classes to help you reach the high standards which you will be encouraged to set yourself.
You will need to work hard and you will certainly find a considerable amount of work to do outside classes, in private study periods and at home. Our students achieve excellent results and enjoy the stimulus which the College provides for them.
There are many opportunities for you to become involved with College activities and there is a well-supported, strong Student Union whose elected members work very hard on behalf of the whole student body.
In choosing to continue your education as a student at John Leggott College you enter a transition period between school and adult life which is both exciting and challenging.
