Most careers demand people who are flexible and broadly educated, not just specialists in one narrow area. A good 'all rounder' should:
have practical and creative skills
be proficient in English and be able to communicate in a modern foreign language
be able to use a computer and different sorts of programs
participate in sporting activities
be able to work with others
Enrichment Studies will complement your academic studies and develop your skills in the areas outlined above.
You may wish to choose courses that:
- Fit your existing interests, perhaps in sport or music
- Are directly related to your intended career choice, like Virtual Medicine
- Develop the skills you will need during or after college
- Improve further your ICT skills by choosing Web-Page Design
Whatever your career plans, think how the courses offered here could help support them. If you have no firm plans, select from the areas above to give yourself a balanced programme of study at college, then refine it as you become more sure of what you would like to do.
Some courses will lead to a certificate. We use nationally recognised qualifications, which can be referred to on university or job application forms and include in your Record of Achievement or ‘Passport’. Course tutors will be able to advise you on what is needed to gain a certificate.
Whatever Enrichment Studies you choose, remember that they are an
integral part of your programme at John Leggott College. As with everything else, the greater the effort that you put it, the bigger the benefit you will get out.
