The purpose of this inspection is to assure children and young people, parents, the public, local authorities and government of the quality and standard of the service provided. The inspection
was carried out under the Care Standards Act 2000. This was not a full college inspection, and most colleges are not inspected under the Care Standards Act. This inspection of Care occurred as the college has a minority of international students residing with host families.
This report details the main strengths and any areas for mprovement identified during the inspection. The judgements included in the report are made in relation to the outcome for children set out in the Children Act 2004 and relevant National Minimum Standards for the establishment.

Governance
The college successfully raises the aspirations of students who have not previously succeeded in education and gives them a sense of genuine accomplishment.
The Commission for Social Care Inspection have a regulatory responsibility, (from April 2002) to inspect and assess the college against the National Minimum Standsards for 'Accommodation of Students under eighteen by Further Education Colleges', once in a three-year period. Ofsted has now taken over the regulation and inspection of children's social care (see below).
