International Students - Courses
The College provides courses for students with a wide range of abilities.
International students usually choose a two year programme of Advanced Level subjects to prepare themselves for university entry. There is also the opportunity for a range of other certificates to be obtained for example BTEC courses.
Students will receive advice about their choice of Advanced Level subjects during the enrolment programme. The choice of subjects will depend on their English Language ability.
At the end of the course, students who gain appropriate grades at A-Level/AS Level will be able to enter a university in the UK or elsewhere.
The courses currently available to students can be accessed by clicking on the link below.
International Students also have English Language lessons as part of the course. This leads to the IELTS test which the college organises.
The College can arrange with 'English in York' special intensive English language tuition for a number of weeks prior to the start of the college course in September.
Tuition
International students are taught in the same classes as local U.K. students so they have the maximum opportunity to improve their English Language. Teaching methods vary according to the subject but much help is available. Students have a five-day programme each week with up to 20 hours of timetabled lessons and activities. Every student will have some time each week to work independently completing set assignments. All courses include individual review discussions between the student and tutor at appropriate intervals.
