International Students - Location

John Leggott College lies in the county of North Lincolnshire on the east coast of England. This part of the UK has a relatively mild climate with average temperatures of approximately 5°c in January and 25°c in July.
The college is in the town of Scunthorpe which is an attractive, varied and interesting place in which to live and study. Because the town is small it is relatively safe with a low cost of living. Scunthorpe is only 2 ½ hours from London by train and there is also easy access to the major cities of Manchester, Sheffield, Leeds, York, Lincoln and Hull.
Our Campus
The College campus is mini version of what you are likely to experience if you go to university and is only 30 minutes walk from Scunthorpe town centre.
Our students have an excellent learning environment and all of the buildings have disabled access.
There is a library which is open throughout the day, and a careers library which contains all the UK university prospectuses. There are extensive computing facilities available for student use, superb science laboratories and other specialist teaching areas, a performance arts studio for drama, music and dance, extensive sports fields, a cafeteria and a student common room with cyber café. There are 800 computers for student use, specially built multi-media Information Technology Centre and Social Science Centre. The college also has a multi-faith prayer room open throughout the day.
The Scunthorpe Area
The location of John Leggott College allows easy access to the beautiful scenery of rural Lincolnshire.
Within a few minutes of leaving the town you will find small villages with picturesque, ancient buildings, miles of quiet country roads and an extensive network of footpaths.
To the north of Scunthorpe lies the spectacular Humber Bridge, one of the longest single span suspension bridges in the world. Across the bridge lies the city of Hull which provides a major shopping and recreational centre.
A little further away [about an hour's drive] is the popular tourist centre of York with its ancient Minster, attractive streets and mediaeval city walls. Closer to Scunthorpe there is the historic city of Lincoln with its magnificent cathedral and castle.
