International Students - Travel
The College is committed to enabling all students who want to study at John Leggott College to travel here easily by arranging an approved taxi from any UK airport to the college when they first arrive.
To and from a student’s home country
Humberside Airport is situated only 20 minutes [24 kilometres] by road from college. The airport has frequent daily flights to the International hub of Amsterdam (Schiphol Airport).
Manchester airport has a direct train service to Scunthorpe.
For flights arriving into London (Heathrow Airport), use the underground to travel to central London and the fast mainline rail service changing at Doncaster. By road from London travel via the M1 motorway and M18/M180/M181 [only 264 kilometres from London].
Around the UK and Europe
Students may wish to spend weekends or holidays exploring the UK and travelling to nearby destinations in Europe. There is easy access by the motorway and railway networks to the major cities of Manchester, Sheffield, Leeds Lincoln and Hull.
Between host family and college
Most host families are located within walking distance of college. Some students may need to use public transport or cycle to college. The International Welfare Officer will be able to give further information when host families have been allocated.
