International Centre Staff
- With a dedicated team of staff, the international centre is a one stop shop for any of your needs and worries. You can drop in at any time.
- The team provides support during the first weeks of arrival in the UK and continued support throughout the course.
- Our international accommodation and welfare officer is responsible for making sure you are happy and healthy and helps to arrange your host family. She carries a 24-hour emergency mobile telephone.
Study Support
Learning Mentors can give you individual assistance and are on hand to help with organisation, meeting deadlines, revision or time management. The learning mentors can be found in the JLC Study Zone.
- You will also have a personal tutor who you will meet twice a week. They will be able to answer any queries, review your progress with you and guide you through the application procedure for university.

Many JLC international students have been successful in progressing to top UK universities including Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, UCL, LSE and Warwick.
They have also been accepted at universities overseas including Hong Kong, Switzerland, Germany, Australia and USA.

Saturday: Full day visit to Cambridge University. Friday: Full day visit to Oxford University. Saturday: Tutors from Oxford and Cambridge take part in a conference at John Leggott College for prospective applicants and their parents. Former JLC students now studying at Oxbridge will be present also to describe experiences.

Lunchtime Meeting held in college to confirm numbers of students likely to apply to Oxford and Cambridge, and to confirm arrangements for attendance at university open days in June. |

Fixed overnight visit to open day at Oxford and more diffuse arrangements for the various Cambridge open days for all JLC prospective applicants. |
| July |
Individual applicant meetings with Alison or David to discuss their application and to receive support in filling in Oxbridge and UCAS application forms, including developing a strong personal statement. Subject tutors approached to supply references for each student’s university application.

Applicants need to be doing extra work (including any set by subject tutors) over the summer vacation to enhance their Oxbridge potential. AS-results received.

| September |
Applicants complete Oxbridge and UCAS application forms (to be checked by staff as early as possible) and the JLC reference is attached… Oct deadline |
| October |
Immediately before half-term: Oxbridge interview workshop held at JLC (led by the Oxford FE Access Officer if possible). 1st Wednesday after half-term: Pre-interview tests required for several subjects including BMAT and LNAT. Check web-sites for details and exemplar material.

Green forms describing interviews of previous JLC Oxbridge applicants available for inspection to help interview preparation. Departments may also offer practice interviews or other support. Note: Unsuccessful applicants may be deselected by Oxbridge on the basis of their application form at this point.

| December |
Applicants offered interviews attend them and fill in green feedback forms on their return to JLC. By late December/early January applicants will have received their conditional offer or a rejection.

| Other support servicesChaplain
- Susan Walker is the John Leggott College Chaplain. An experienced counsellor, she is around to support staff and students of all faiths and none.
- The College has a Reflection/Prayer Room which is available to staff and students of all faiths and none for quiet reflection or prayer.
Health Officer
- Catherine Henderson is the college health officer and a qualified nurse. She is located in Room A048 along the Student Support Corridor.
