Higher Education Finance

For details about the loans and grants available to Higher Education Students to help with the cost of tuition fees, living and other costs visit http://www.studentfinancedirect.co.uk.

There are also a wide range of other awards available to 2nd year John Leggott students going on to higher education

Many of these are made available by the college and universities themselves. These include an ‘Access to Learning Fund’ to help students in hardship who may need extra financial support for their course and to stay in  higher education. You will need to contact the Student Services department at the university or college of your choice to obtain further information about their financial schemes available.

Through the initiative of local people and organisations, John Leggott is fortunate to have a small number of awards/prizes made available to our students only:

Bill Hesketh Trust Fund

Bill Hesketh was a former Governor of the College, whose Estate has left money in trust for a John Leggott College student. A student can receive a grant of £150 a year [for three years] for the purchase of learning materials at university. While the initial thinking was that this would be for textbooks, it could be a contribution towards a computer or software. The successful student needs to be studying one of the Science subjects and going on to a Science-related degree [not Medicine or Veterinary Science].
