On Wednesday 20th November we took four of our students to the Senior Team Maths Challenge at the University of Sheffield.
The Senior Maths Challenge is a great opportunity that was set up by the United Kingdom Maths Trust (UKMT) and is held at various venues across the country. We are grateful for the University of Sheffield for hosting this event, to provide enrichment and challenge to teams of senior students across the UK on mathematical, communication and teamwork skills competing in several rounds.
This is the first year the college has taken students to attend the event and we are very proud of one of our students for taking the lead on this. Vignesh Kamath, former Caistor Grammar student spoke with his teacher Chris to arrange the trip and the girls volunteered to be part of the team after it was put out to students in their Further Maths class.
Anna Holt, former Frederick Gough; Ellie Ingledew, former QEHS; Christina Li, one of our international students formed the John Leggott Maths Team. They had a fantastic performance coming 11th in the table and are grateful for such an amazing opportunity and would love to attend next year as Year 13 students.
