We appreciate this is a very anxious time for you all. From Monday 23rd March 2020 the college will only open to the following:
JLC Vulnerable – eg EHCP students
JLC Students with Key Worker parents
If you fall into these categories and only if you need to come in, you will need to sign in at reception where you will be directed to a room in college. Please ensure you bring your lanyard.
This system will be in place for the next four weeks. As you can appreciate this is a very fluid situation and we will continue to provide updates as and when we can following government advice.
Year One students are expected to continue with homeworking. Work has been set on google classroom by all teachers. For google classroom directories, please follow this link Resources directory
Please continue to check Cedar as teachers/AAs will continue to provide updates for your son/daughters progress.
Students in year 2 will be able to re-sit exams early next academic year if they wish or in summer 2021. Otherwise, they will be awarded a grade based on teacher judgments (which teachers will make based on mocks and non-exam assessment, guided by DfE/Ofqual advice) combined with prior attainment and other data. The precise process will be decided soon and communicated as soon as possible.
For vocational courses where work has already been completed and assessed, these grades are likely to form part of the judgment.
Grades will be available hopefully by the end of July, and have a similar distribution as in previous years. They can be appealed.
We will have a very small number of staff onsite for the next four weeks. Staff that are not required to be in on these days will be homeworking and will be available by email.
We will continue to monitor the advice of the Public Health authorities, the Foreign Office and the Department for Education and will keep you regularly updated on our News page.
