John Leggott College are supporting Red January. Red January is an initiative to encourage people to support their mental health by doing something active every day of the month; this can be from virtual workouts, to a walk in the park – whatever it is, let us keep moving together. This year Red January is raising funds for Sport in Mind.

Sport in Mind is a charity that uses sport and physical activity: “To improve the lives of people experiencing mental health problems through sport and physical activity.”(Sport in Mind, 2021)

As we enter into another lockdown, we need to be conscious of our physical and mental health and fortunately physical activity can have a direct positive influence on your mental health.

As a college, we have set up a Just Giving page for the charity to show our support for Sport in Mind. We will continue to post our pledges and activities across staff and students on social media throughout the month.  If you would like to show your support, please tag us in your photos of you getting active to beat the blues away or simply head over to our page to donate.

We are looking forward to our Sports coaches from Basketball, Football, Netball and Rugby setting challenges for their teams!

Remember, you are allowed to exercise once per day outside with your household or one other person with social distancing – so let us get moving whether we are together or apart.
