JLC Digital Vision has been developed to maximise advancements made as a result of COVID.

Our Digital Vision:

We will achieve a fully inclusive and accessible digital environment which embeds highly innovative practice, enabling learning to take place anytime and anywhere. We will equip learners and staff to be highly digitally literate, ensuring they are ready for the demands of the future workplace.

Our Four Key Digital Strands (Overview):

  1. To develop our teaching and learning pedagogy to lead in the digital landscape.
  2. To invest in our staff and students to be future ready.
  3. To enhance our digital capabilities within the college environment.
  4. To ensure our systems are accessible and inclusive to all.

We have now completed deployment for the first phase of our one-to-one device pilot for students. The One-to-One Device pilot is designed to establish the impact of students having 24/7 access to a digital device to support their studies. The pilot is running for all Geography, Economics and Bursary students. All students studying Geography or Economics now have a Chromebook device that they carry around with them.

The majority of the devices issued to students are Chromebooks designed to integrate seamlessly into our online learning environment, Google Workspace for Education, which was used by all teaching staff and students throughout the pandemic and continues to be developed to support learning anytime, anywhere.

The next phase of deployment will be to issue all Tier 1 Bursary students followed by Tier 2 Bursary students with a device.

The pilot is part of our new Digital Strategy which focuses on using innovative teaching to enhance learning and goes hand-in-hand with investments made recently into WiFi, Server Capacity, our eSports course and our new Digital Immersive Environment coming in 2022.
