Application deadline approaching
The popular Scunthorpe college have set an application deadline for the 14th April, those applying by this date will have their course choices guaranteed.
Leon Riley, Principal “it’s common practice for providers to set deadlines for applications, this enables us to ensure those students who are keen to progress to John Leggott are offered a place on their chosen programme of study.”
Students have been applying since September last year, so the vast majority of people have submitted their forms and been interviewed for their place. Those students who are undecided, or have simply not had the opportunity to apply yet should aim to get their forms to the college by the 14th April.
Applications will be accepted after this date, however the college will not be able to guarantee course choices.
“We have seen growth in certain subjects and with applications from specific areas this year, so the deadline is a way of planning support in areas of growth and ensuring we are responsive to the needs of our travel to learn areas. Our application numbers have exceeded last year’s numbers, highlighting relevance of our curriculum with applicants making us their first choice” adds Leon.
The college will be hosting their annual progression event on the 26th April, Your Move Your Future. This popular event is attended by both current and prospective students, as the event provides a forum for people to talk to JLC teaching staff as well as over 60 HE providers and employers about their next steps.
Leon continues, “the event is one of the most popular of our academic calendar as students whether they are current or prospective, can look at their options be this post-16, post-JLC or returning learners or transfers.
The risks for late applications are real, they will need to think to themselves “what are you waiting for?” the time is now to look at your options and get sorted for September. Whether you’re currently at school, at college or looking to return to education as an adult learner.”
After the 14th April JLC will have rolling admissions process, for those late applicants.
The college have a range of new subjects on offer from September 2017, including Criminology, Accounting, Games Design and Health and Social Care level 2, so this could be an opportunity for those yet to consider their options to apply and plan for their future.
