Café Indie takeover gig by local college
John Leggott College is celebrating the end of exams by inviting new students enrolling in September to an exclusive ‘student takeover’ gig at Café Indiependent in Scunthorpe. On Saturday 1st July staff and students will take over Café Indie, with three bands playing live on the night including local bands The Claxbys and The Last Hearts, and headline band Idolising Nova.
Both The Claxbys and The Last Hearts are well-known indie rock bands in Scunthorpe, having played at local venues and festivals and included on this year’s line-up at Party in the Pines.
Idolising Nova are a three-piece pop band hailing from Peterborough, and in addition to the John Leggott College Café Indie gig, will be performing alongside Stereophonics and Jake Bugg at Y Not Festival in 2017!
Jo Marwood, Student Engagement Officer at John Leggott College said “We can’t wait for new students to join us at this gig – it’s our first take-over event and we’ve got some great bands ready to play awesome live music. Café Indie was an ideal choice to host the gig, right in the centre of Scunthorpe and having a great reputation of hosting live music from famous bands to DJs.”
“This is also an opportunity for new students to meet before enrolling at John Leggott College in September, and an excuse to celebrate the end of exams and the start of summer!”
The event is free and exclusively for new applicants – tickets are in the post now. This fantastic event will be the first opportunity for new students to meet before enrolling at John Leggott College in September.
