Access to HE (Computing)
What will I learn?
This course will cover units such as:
- Maths for Computing
- Computer Science Basics
- Introduction to Computer Programming
- Introduction to Web Technologies
- Introduction to Systems Analysis
- Computer Networks
Ideally have GCSE grade C/4 (or above) in English Language, and preferably also in Mathematics. A passion and interest in a computing related subject is highly desirable, with prior qualifications in computing/IT/ICT useful (but not a necessity).
If applicants do not have GCSE Maths at grade C/4 or above, it be be possible to sit these alongside the course if you are deemed a suitable candidate. Applicants are considered on an individual basis, so if you do not fit the typical profile as described above, please get in touch to discuss your circumstances.
Your qualifications and skills, as well as your interest and aptitude for the course, will be discussed during an interview with a John Leggott College course tutor. This will ensure the course is correct for you and you have the best chances of accessing and successfully completing a Higher Education course.

A variety of assessment techniques including practical course assignments, project work, essays, oral presentations and timed assessments.
Who is this course aimed at?
Adults who want to work and/or study computing and IT and a higher education (HE) level but do not have the required entry qualifications and/or underpinning knowledge or computer science/technology etc. So, if you have been away from studying for some time and wish to start your career in the field of IT, this course is for you.
