What will I learn?

Core Units in Year One

Unit 1 The Business Environment 

The aim of this unit is to give learners fundamental knowledge of a range of business organisations, and the many factors that shape the nature of organisations operating in an increasingly complex business world.

Unit 2 Business Resources

The aim of this unit is the develop learner knowledge of the range of human, physical, technological and financial resources required in an organisation, and how the management of these resources can impact on business performance.

Unit 3 Introduction to Marketing

The aim and purpose of this unit is to give learners an understanding of how marketing, research and planning and the marketing mix are used by all organisations.

Entry Requirements

Maths and English at Grade 4 or above and a GCSE points average of 3.2 or above.

One year

How will I be assessed?

All units will be assessed by the completion of appropriate coursework. Students will need to work to deadlines set in order to be successful.

The BTEC Certificate in Business will be attractive to students who:

  • have an interest in a business related career
  • want to find out more about how modern businesses work
  • want to take a course where they are assessed entirely by coursework

You can move directly into employment or move into Higher Education to pursue a career in business areas including finance, management and marketing.
