Creative Digital Media Production BTEC Technical Diploma


What will I learn?

Built on BTEC’s tried-and-trusted ‘learn-by-doing’ approach, the new courses help post-16 learners stand out from the crowd with the skills they need to start and succeed in their careers.

Employers and industry bodies have helped us design your BTEC Level 2 Technicals, so you will be prepared for wherever your next steps may lead. During the course you will complete the following units:

  • Planning and Pitching a Digital Media Product
  • Writing for Digital Media
  • Digital Graphics
  • Digital Editing for Moving Image
  • Digital Campaign Management

These units will be combined to create a series of creative projects that will develop your media skills and provide you with the opportunity to work on real projects and learn from Media Professionals.

Entry Requirements

Mainly GCSE grades 4 and 3.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment is 100% through coursework, which is marked by course tutors and moderated by the exam board. At the end of the course you will complete a Digital Project set and marked by the exam board. The final grade will be Pass, Merit or Distinction, and will be comparable to three GCSEs grade A to C.

Additional Learning Opportunities

You may like to take part in many of the enrichment activities around the College, such as Duke of Edinburgh Award, First Aid, Sign Language and Pre-Driving.

Who is this course aimed at?

The course will appeal to those students who:

  • want to improve their grades at GCSE level, but do not want to re-sit lots of GCSEs
  • have lots of interest in any aspect of the media
  • want a chance to make media productions of their own and focus on the creative and practical aspects of media
  • would like to learn how to use media equipment such PCs/Apple Mac computers with graphics packages, video editing and photography
  • enjoy being a more independent student
  • are interested in the media, whether or not they studied media at GCSE

What next?

You will have the skills and knowledge to seek employment within the media industry or progress to Level 3 learning.
