Interests and Enjoyment

What are Extended Opportunities?

Extended Opportunities are a fantastic opportunity to increase the enjoyment of your time with us, and take part in activities or groups that extend beyond the curriculum of your chosen subjects.  We have a very wide range of opportunities on offer, and if there is not something that interests you -  we can start a new enrichment group to suit. It is a social part of College life where you will be able to make new friends, as well as learn a new skill or develop existing skills; you may also choose play a sport or join one of many clubs. There is an expectation that you will participate in at least one option during your time with us.

Benefits

  • The Programme will empower and educate you, enabling you to grow as an individual, be a good citizen and support you in lifelong success.
  • It will give you a competitive advantage when it comes to University or employment applications
  • It can help improve your confidence as there is less pressure than in your chosen classes.
  • Increase your knowledge exposure - curriculum's are often completely set and inflexible, so students don't always get to explore their own academic interests. One of the biggest perks of taking part in an enrichment programme is that you can explore topics beyond what is required in your learning modules.
  • It is a great opportunity to have some fun, and make friends with others who have similar interests.

This programme is designed to benefit students via three distinct pathways.

Health and Well-being’, ‘Interests and Enjoyment’ and ‘Progression’. At JLC there is an expectation for everyone to take part in some sort of engagement activity.  The programme is designed to meet the needs of our current students and changes year on year to meet those needs; so there is always something to interest everyone.

As a college we are identifying new ways of working with our student body as we move to a Virtual delivery of the programmeThis delivery will continue for the foreseeable future, whilst we return to a new version of normal.

Please get in touch if you would like to sign up or have any questions!
