JLC Team Tackle ‘Sting In The Tail’
On Sunday 2nd July a team of JLC staff and students attended ‘The Sting in the Tail’ Caistor 10k race. The College is committed to engaging with community events and provided the event with a sponsorship package which included a team of JLC runners.
The course provided a challenge for the runners, incorporating several steep inclines in and around Caistor. The finish saw participants cross the line in Caistor Market Place, where they were cheered across the line by large crowds of supporters.
First over the line for the JLC team was Curriculum Leader Chris Carr, with an impressive time of 45 minutes 42 seconds. Chris was understandably pleased with completing the challenging course in a fast time.
‘I ran the event in 45 minutes or thereabouts which I was quite pleased with considering the steep hills at the end which were a real killer. The only low point was being beaten by a man dressed as a banana!’
Chris was followed by JLC student Patrick Axe with a time of 53 minutes 36 seconds, with Rowena Scott and Paul Crompton crossing the line together at 55 minutes 52 seconds.
Academic Advocate Paul said, ‘The hills were tough but the crowds round the course were fantastic and Rowena somehow managed to drag me round in a half way decent time. We had a great time and the race had a fantastic spirit. People were even cheering when they saw our JLC T-shirts.’
Everyone at JLC is thrilled with how the team performed and can’t wait to see them in action again soon. Visit the College events page to see where you can meet the JLC team and find out more about the College.
