We are proud to be one of the longest standing sixth form colleges in the country.
The social side of John Leggott College is partly what makes us so attractive to prospective students. We have a range of social spaces for students to meet friends and relax, including dining options to suit every diet and taste in Zest or the Margaret Mason Centre. Wi-Fi is enabled throughout the entire campus, so you can check your emails, browse the internet and listen to your music.
We would like you to have an insight into our facilities at JLC.
John Leggott College benefits from extensive parking for students and staff which is available during all college hours. Our students can access large parking facilities in a dedicated car park situated directly across the road from our campus. Students are asked to pay £5 for their individual parking pass, which covers the duration of their time at the college. To purchase your parking pass, please see Student Services or order on Parent Pay https://bit.ly/2PCXGhH
Many students choose to car-share to reduce travel costs and environmental impact.
If you want to get on with your coursework, or conduct extra research, make use of our large open-access IT centre. There are PCs as well as additional space to work and connect your own devices and timetabled classes are often held in the Portal throughout the year in one of our three dedicated IT bays. The Portal is where our IT support team is based, so if you have any IT-related queries, feel free to speak to one of the staff and they will be happy to help.
The extensive library is light and spacious with room to study, read and relax. It also combines the services and facilities of a library with computing and space for private study. The experienced library staff will always try to help with any query you may have.
The Core is our central hall where students can socialise during free periods and catch up with friends . We also hold regular live music sessions, talks and workshops in this space for all students to take part in.
We have a large sports hall with a fully-equipped fitness suite and outdoor all-weather Multi Use Games Area (MUGA), alongside our impressive sports field featuring 3 football pitches, 1 rugby pitch and 2 football practice pitches.
Our dedicated Performing Arts Centre comprises a 140-seat performance auditorium with a sprung floor, large rehearsal rooms, a state-of-the-art sound and lighting booth and music recording studios. We also have a separate fully air-conditioned Dance Studio complete with specialised actively sprung floor similar to those found at the Royal Ballet in London, full wall mirrors, a ballet barre and changing room facilities. Throughout the year our students use these spaces for rehearsals and performances, and we also hold live music and theatre sessions for the general public to attend.
Zest is home to our very own Starbucks! Zest also serves snacks and home-made meals throughout the day. With a variety of ever-changing options on our daily specials menu and our popular cooked breakfast, this canteen proves extremely popular with our students.
Elior is our supplier for our in house catering.
The Margaret Mason Centre "known fondly by students as Maggie May" is a great space to catch up with friends, with a lively social atmosphere.
Local community groups and clubs often hire our facilities during evenings and weekends. If you are an external company, group or individual and wish to hire our facilities please email firstname.lastname@example.org for a full outline and associated costs.
