Our Results and 2020 leavers

We have a reputation as one of the best Sixth Form Colleges nationally. In 2020, 32 of our A level subjects achieved a 100% pass rate, approaching 2 out of every 3 gaining a high grade (A* to B). A level results are particularly strong in sciences and creative arts, with many outcomes at a nationally leading level. The college’s BTEC students perform in the top ten percent nationally with around 93% high grades across a wide variety of vocationally centred courses.

Progression to Positive Destinations

Our staff are experts in their field, with many bringing industry experience to the classroom through their own experience or through their links with industry and Higher Education. Around 69% of our students progress to universities across the UK, including 20% of students to prestigious Russell Group universities. In 2020 we achieved a 95% positive destination rate which means 95% of our students progressed into Higher Education, Further Education, Employment or Apprenticeships.

We are also successful in supporting applications to globally prestigious universities such as Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Standford in the USA. Equally, many of our students are expertly guided to progress on to employment or high quality apprenticeships with leading local or national industries. The college has a vibrant mix of students, coming to us from local, regional and international schools and this diverse mix creates an exciting atmosphere.

To supplement our academic programmes, our students are involved in Extended Opportunities, such as A*spire, Pre-Teaching Award, Pre-Med Programme, Police Cadets and many more that support our students progression pathway.

What Our Students Say

Always do your best because that is all that matters.

I have enjoyed my time throughout JLC and thoroughly loved BTEC IT as it enhanced my key skills by working both in groups and individually. It has also further increased my passion for Computer Science by studying the design, development and analysis of software and hardware used to solve problems in a variety of business, scientific and social contexts.

Photography gave me an understanding of the photographic industry and helped me decide which area I wanted to move into. It has been an amazing experience and the staff are friendly and helpful.

Revise early and enjoy it whilst it lasts - time flies.
