Who are we and what do we do?
Academic Advocates act as a first point of contact for students, delivering pastoral and academic support through termly one-to-one meetings and weekly group tutorials where students are able to reflect on their academic progress and gain an insight into their progression options post JLC. Students have access to their Academic Advocate at any point throughout the college week, whether they just need a chat or have a problem that they need support; they are here to listen to students and help them.
The Academic Advocates also provide support with monitoring attendance and behaviour to instill independence into college life and build resilience within students. This enables them to be successful at college and develop their skills in line with their chosen progression destination.
