Academic Resource Centre (ARC)
Our Academic Resource Centre is a Wi-Fi enabled, open-plan facility for students that want to work independently or in small groups. Our Careers and Destinations team, Academic Advocates and Well-being team are all based here. They work hard to make sure our students receive pastoral support, assistance with gaining work experience, and help with submitting their University and Apprenticeship applications.
The extensive Library is light and spacious with room to study, read and relax. Our team keep the Library well-stocked with the latest books, journals, DVDs, newspapers and other resources to support your learning.
If you want to get on with your coursework, or conduct extra research, make use of our large open-access IT centre. There are PCs as well as additional space to work and connect your own devices and timetabled classes are often held in the Portal throughout the year in one of our three dedicated IT bays. The Portal is where our IT support team is based, so if you have any IT-related queries, feel free to speak to one of the staff and they will be happy to help.
The Core is our central hall where students can socialise during free periods and catch up with friends . We also hold assemblies for our 14-16 Academy students, regular live music sessions, talks and workshops in this space for all students to take part in.
We have a range of teams to join including our Wolves Basketball team, Rugby, Netball, Football and many more, as well as lunchtime additional learning opportunities including table tennis. We also have a large sports hall with a fully-equipped fitness suite and outdoor all-weather Multi Use Games Area (MUGA), alongside our impressive sports field featuring 3 football pitches, 1 rugby pitch and 2 football practice pitches. Please visit our Enrichment page for more information on our sports programmes.
Performing Arts Centre and Dance Studio
Our dedicated Performing Arts Centre comprises a 140-seat performance auditorium with a sprung floor, large rehearsal rooms, a state-of-the-art sound and lighting booth and music recording studios. We also have a separate fully air-conditioned Dance Studio complete with specialised actively sprung floor similar to those found at the Royal Ballet in London, full wall mirrors, a ballet barre and changing room facilities. Throughout the year our students use these spaces for rehearsals and performances, and we also hold live music and theatre sessions for the general public to attend.
Photography and Media Suites
Our Creative Media department boasts an Apple Mac suite, two dark rooms, photography studio and a wealth of state-of-the-art equipment including industry-standard video cameras, graphics tablets, digital and flip cameras and iPads.
Zest is home to our very own Starbucks! Zest also serves snacks and home-made meals throughout the day. With a variety of ever-changing options on our daily specials menu and our popular cooked breakfast, this canteen proves extremely popular with our students.
The Margaret Mason Centre
The ‘Maggie May’ is a great space to catch up with friends, with a lively social atmosphere. Grab something quick from The Hub, or head to Shimmey Shakes for a milkshake or smoothie.
The social side of John Leggott College is partly what makes us so attractive to prospective students. We have a range of social spaces for students to meet friends and relax, including dining options to suit every diet and taste in Zest or the Margaret Mason Centre. Wi-Fi is enabled throughout the entire campus, so you can check your emails, browse the internet and listen to your music.
