A huge part of student life here at John Leggott College is the overall experience, creating opportunities for students to try something new, meet different people, learn additional skills and make new friends.
Every year, we offer a busy enrichment programme of staff and student-led societies related to the curriculum, sport, key skills and picking up new hobbies! From the popular Debating society to Irish dancing, British Sign Language to the LGBTQ+ society, students are encouraged to join new societies throughout the academic year. We also support students to form their own societies, which helps to develop skills in leadership, planning and communication, as well as broadening our enrichment offering to new students.
Societies are forming and changing regularly throughout the year – just some of the societies we’ve offered over the last year include:
Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award
Dungeons & Dragons
Emergency First Aid
Music: Wind Band, Choir, Pop Band, Music Grades, Orchestra
Student Leadership Team
Sport: Table Tennis, Female Fitness, Netball Team, Basketball Team, Rugby Team, Male Football Team, Female Football Team, Hockey
In addition to our regular societies, we run events and fundraisers throughout the year to engage the student body. Look out for live music events, bake sales, quizzes, competitions and more – or if you have an idea, get in touch with Jo Marwood, Engagement Officer on firstname.lastname@example.org
