Summer school is an annual one week package, offered over a two week period, that is tailored to Year 6 students in the local community and surrounding areas.
The summer school programme has been running for the last 16 years through sponsorship of amazing local businesses.
The programme was originally set up to raise aspiration of young people into STEM related careers. This has now expanded in other curriculum's and also supports students transitioning to secondary school.
Please see below for our 2021 plans.
After what has been a difficult year for us all, we have decided to go ahead and plan our Summer School, for 2021.
We will be keeping a close eye on government guidance and responding where necessary, if this means cancelling and refunding parents then we will do so promptly.
This year we have renovated the summerschool programme at John Leggott College. Historically, this has been a part of our A*spire programme for students who have shown an aptitude for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. However, this year we have a brand new Summer School Coordinator; Samantha Robinson who has revised the programme and would like to offer an opportunity to all students. Together, they will explore a wide range of creative, educational and aspirational sessions and workshops.
This year the summer school will be running:
Week One: Monday 26th July - Friday 30th July 2021 (5 days)
Week Two: Monday 2nd August - Friday 6th August 2021 (5days)
The summer school is designed for pupils in Lincolnshire who have just completed Year 6.
Here is a copy of the evaluation report from a previous summer school, where you will be able to see how enjoyable and beneficial this was for all the pupils who took part.
