Transition to JLC
We would like to thank all of our 2021 prospective learners for their hardwork during our Virtual Transition+ Programme that ran through the month of June.
We hope you feel our bespoke programme was beneficial to support you to transition to JLC.
We appreciate over the last 12 months it has created challenges in your education journey, so we designed this programme to introduce you to your subjects, additional opportunities and the wrap around support we offer at the college.
You can still access all of your Transition+ materials on Google Classrom, alongside recorded sessions throughout the summer months.
Following on from your Transition+ programme, you are required to complete a summer task for each of your individual subjects. Please see the drop down list below.
To find out more, click here to read our Transition+ booklet.
All learners were sent a letter home with log in details for their JLC account.
Google Classroom codes were sent to JLC student email account.
The main focus of our Transition+ programme will be the subject tasters that you will experience, in the courses you have applied for.
The programme will consist of 3 x 1 hour sessions per week, per subject, developed to give you an ‘Introduction to…” many different topics that you will study. During our programme, each course will also provide opportunities to explore beyond the boundaries of the specifications through engagement in super-curricular activities. A dedicated session on this within each subject will enable you to pursue specific interests and develop passion for their chosen programme of study.
Transition + will be delivered virtually through Google Meets.
To enable all learners to participate with the online programme, in a safe and monitored environment, you will be given a dedicated John Leggott account to give them access to many of the Google platforms we use throughout our curriculum offering; this will include our dedicated VLE - Google Classroom.
Transition+ is still accessible on Google Classroom over summer.
You had the opportunity to participate in our Digital Skills Programme, allowing you to develop or learn new skills that will be beneficial in your future and in the world of work. This is still accessible on our Digital Skills Google Classroom Page.
We offer a wide range of wrap around support at John Leggott College, you were introduced to our Progress Tutors and Careers & Employability Team. They will support you as a learner progressing on to the next destination of studies and support your aspirational goals.
All schools have been notified about our Transition + Programme.
