About this course

The highly successful Access to Higher Education course offered at JLC gives mature students (19+) the opportunity to study part time, term time only and with some flexible study hours towards a career change into the health and care services. The course has produced consistently outstanding results over many years with full academic, study skills and UCAS support being given, so you will be fully prepared for academic progression.

The course is aimed at anyone wanting to go to university to study for a degree in a health or social care field. It is useful for people already working in care for example as HCA/SHCA who want to upskill to go into Nursing as well as people who have no current care experience but who have a passion and desire to work in the health or social care field.

The majority of student go on to study at a range of regional and wider universities in a variety of degrees for example Nursing, Paramedic Science, Midwifery, Psychology, Counselling, Teaching and Social Work. However, some students take the course for CPD and to upskill to progress their current knowledge.

This qualification will provide learners with the skills, knowledge and understanding to progress to university or into employment in the health and social care sector.
