John Leggott College Progress Tutor Session

 Parent & Carer Information

A welcome from our Principal

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about John Leggott College. We hope to provide you with an insight into our unique provision with over 50 years experience supporting students to achieve their dreams and ambitions. I am very proud that learners travel from all over the world to study at John Leggott College. Our mix of learners truly make us a unique place to study.

We have one of the widest range of courses to study in the region, with A Level, T Level and BTEC Level 3 courses available. These qualifications in turn will provide you with the essential keys you will need to progress on to your chosen pathway or indeed, keep your options open if you are currently undecided about your future goals. 8 out of 10 completing JLC learners achieved A*- C grades or equivalent in 2024. These results are enabling our students to progress on to Oxbridge, Russell Group universities, degree apprenticeships and the workplace.

JLC produces the accountants and lawyers, actors and musicians, medics, dentists and vets, psychologists, journalists, film makers, teachers and fashion designers of the future as well as many others. You can be one of them!

John Leggott is more than academic success. In supporting students to fulfil their ambitions, we excel and pride ourselves in providing a weekly enrichments programme, ranging from photography, journalism and chess, to a full range of competitive and successful sports teams. Many of these opportunities are run by students for students in addition to our enthusiastic staff.

Our students are encouraged to be outward facing. We take you out of the classroom to experience the world of work and enhance your subjects through our extensive range of trips and visits. This year our students have had the opportunity to travel to places such as Malta, Italy, Dubai, Portugal, Germany and Poland to name a few.

We look forward to having the opportunity to meet you, either at one of our scheduled open events throughout the year where you can meet staff and students or for parents of current students, at one of our parents evenings.

John Leggott College aspires to provide an impeccable service and we welcome your feedback to help us deliver this. If we fail to meet your expectations then please let us know.

We understand that a college application can often be a process that impacts not just on the student, but their family and friends too. As a parent or guardian it is important for you to know that your son or daughter is selecting a college that will support them and provide them with access to outstanding teaching, support and progression opportunities.

We also appreciate that heading to college can present some additional demands on a household so we offer help with this, whether you’re supporting a student heading to us straight from school, or returning to college after a break.

Once a student has enrolled with us at college, they will be assigned a Progress Tutor who will be their key contact at JLC if you have any queries please ask to speak to your son/daughters Progress Tutor.
