Technical Information about this sites accessibility
John Leggott College is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Compliance Status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1 AA, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
-
Some PDFs and Word documents are essential to providing our services (e.g. policies or forms). These may not yet be fully accessible. We aim to replace or fix these documents by September 2026, or convert them into accessible HTML where possible.
-
Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.
Disproportionate burden
-
Some accessibility issues relate to limitations in our third-party content management system. For example, certain pages do not reflow properly at 400% zoom. Addressing this would require rebuilding the website on a different platform.
-
We have assessed this and believe fixing these issues now would represent a disproportionate burden under the regulations. We will reassess this when our supplier contract is due for renewal, likely in 2026.
How we test the website
-
We conduct manual accessibility checks against the WCAG 2.1 AA standard.
-
Testing includes keyboard navigation, zoom functionality, contrast, and screen reader compatibility.

Planned Improvements
We are currently working on a new website structure and layout that will address key accessibility issues, including zoom reflow and keyboard navigation. These updates are expected to roll out by Spring 2026.
