Student Accommodation

JLC Crest

Where will you live?

International students studying in the UK at John Leggott will live in with a local British family in Homestay accommodation

All John Leggott College international students live locally with one of our carefully selected homestay families - a service rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted in 2023. Homestay offers students the unique opportunity to live with a local British family, helping them experience authentic UK culture, improve their English, and feel truly at home. Many of our hosts are very experienced and have welcomed students from all over the world, often forming long-lasting friendships.

Homestay accommodation

Each student has a private bedroom with storage, study space, WiFi access, and a house key. Breakfast and evening meals are provided daily as part of our catered package, with additional catering options available depending on your preferences.

Our homestay hosts are individuals, couples, or families - some may have children or pets. All hosts are fully vetted, DBS-checked, and receive training in safeguarding. Their homes are visited in advance to ensure they are warm, clean, comfortable, and safe. Some are within walking distance of the College, while others are easily accessible by public transport or bicycle.

Before your arrival, we’ll match you with a host family based on your needs and preferences. You’ll receive a host profile, including information about their household and location. When you arrive in Scunthorpe, your host family will warmly welcome you into your new home.

As part of your College Induction, you and your host will complete a Homestay Agreement, outlining the responsibilities of the student, the host, and the College. This agreement supports a smooth transition and sets clear expectations.

Throughout your time in homestay accommodation, our International Support Officer is always available to offer advice, answer questions, and provide any additional support you need.
