John Leggott College's EHE Hub Marks Strong GCSE Results for 2026

What did EHE Hub students achieve this summer?

Twenty students in John Leggott College's Elective Home Education (EHE) Hub achieved a recognised qualification this summer, with 95% gaining at least one pass. Between them, the group completed 42 GCSE entries, and some left with as many as six GCSE passes, in subjects including English, Maths, Science and Business.

The EHE Hub is delivered in partnership with North Lincolnshire Council, supporting young people in Scunthorpe and the wider North Lincolnshire area who are educated at home rather than in a mainstream school setting. 

How are the students moving on to JLC this term?

Three EHE Hub students, Holly, Penny and Amelia, enrolled at John Leggott College this week to begin Level 2 programmes. Level 2 courses give students who need to build on their GCSE results a clear route toward Level 3 study, including A-Levels and BTECs, once they're ready for it.

For each of the three, arriving at JLC follows a period of real challenge: rebuilding routine, confidence and a sense of belonging in a classroom setting after time spent learning at home. The EHE Hub exists for exactly this. Twenty students completing 42 GCSE entries this summer shows that route working in practice, not just on paper.

Why does this result matter beyond the grades?

A GCSE pass isn't always the headline achievement for a young person coming through the EHE Hub. For some students, the bigger outcome is walking through JLC's doors ready to start the next stage of their education, having rebuilt the confidence that a period of home education can sometimes interrupt.

JLC's pastoral team works with EHE Hub students individually as they make that transition into college life.
