John Leggott College Celebrates National Recognition at the NAPCE Awards

John Leggott College recognised nationally for outstanding pastoral care and student wellbeing

John Leggott College is celebrating national recognition for its commitment to student wellbeing, pastoral care and inclusive education, following commendations in two categories at the National Awards for Pastoral Care in Education (NAPCE).

The recognition celebrates the work of the college’s Pastoral and Wellbeing Team and its Elective Home Education (EHE) Hub, highlighting the innovative approaches, dedicated leadership and personalised support helping young people access the guidance and opportunities they need to succeed.

The NAPCE Awards bring together education professionals from across the country to recognise outstanding practice in pastoral care and the positive difference it makes to young people’s lives.

Innovative pastoral care that puts students first

The college’s Pastoral and Wellbeing Team was recognised for its innovative approach to supporting students throughout the academic year.

A key development has been the introduction of a new triage approach, designed to ensure students receive the right support, at the right time, from the right people.

By continually reviewing and improving how support is delivered, the team is helping to ensure that individual student needs are identified and responded to effectively. This approach reflects John Leggott College’s ongoing commitment to placing students at the centre of everything it does and creating an environment where young people feel supported throughout their education.

The national recognition celebrates the team’s dedication to developing effective, responsive pastoral care and making a meaningful difference to students every day.

EHE Hub recognised for exceptional pastoral care and leadership

The college’s Elective Home Education (EHE) Hub was also commended for its exceptional pastoral care and leadership.

Working with young people and their families, the EHE Hub provides bespoke support, guidance and educational pathways tailored to individual needs. Its work helps learners explore opportunities, overcome barriers and develop the confidence and skills to progress towards their future goals.

The commendation recognises the positive impact of this personalised approach, highlighting the importance of understanding each learner’s circumstances and providing the right support to help them thrive.

Through its work, the EHE Hub continues to expand opportunities for young people and families, demonstrating how inclusive, learner-centred support can make a lasting difference.

Celebrating the people behind the progress

The NAPCE Awards ceremony was an opportunity to celebrate the dedication of education professionals from across the country who share a commitment to improving young people’s experiences and outcomes.

Being recognised in two categories was a proud moment for John Leggott College and a reflection of the commitment shown by colleagues who work tirelessly, often behind the scenes, to support students and their families.

The recognition reinforces the importance of pastoral care as a fundamental part of education. Alongside high-quality teaching and learning, effective wellbeing support helps create the conditions in which young people can feel secure, access opportunities and work towards their aspirations.

John Leggott College is incredibly proud of its Pastoral and Wellbeing Team and EHE Hub. Their work reflects the college’s commitment to ensuring every learner receives the support, care and guidance they need to move forward with confidence.

This national recognition is a fitting celebration of the difference they make to young people’s lives every single day.
