Leggott Life

The new academic year at John Leggott College in Scunthorpe got off to an unforgettable start with our annual Leggott Life celebration. Every September, this event gives our students the chance to come together after their first week of lessons, meet new people, and enjoy the unique community spirit that makes JLC such a special place to study. Leggott Life is always a highlight in the college calendar, but this year we went bigger than ever before by welcoming Tucker’s Funfair to campus.

The college field was transformed into a fairground and students enjoyed the thrill of the waltzers, twister and cliffhanger. Alongside the rides, a variety of food vendors and games created a real festival feel, giving students plenty of opportunities to relax, enjoy themselves and make memories with friends. For many of our new starters, Leggott Life was the perfect way to feel part of the John Leggott College family straight away.

What truly made this year’s Leggott Life stand out was the opportunity to share the fun with our local community. Between 4pm and 6pm, we opened the gates to families in Scunthorpe, inviting brothers, sisters, parents, and local school children to experience the funfair free of charge. It was fantastic to see families enjoying the atmosphere and joining our students in celebrating the start of term. Being at the heart of our local community is something we are incredibly proud of at John Leggott College, and events like this highlight the role JLC plays not just in education, but in the wider Scunthorpe area.

The energy and excitement of Leggott Life 2025 perfectly captured the spirit of John Leggott College. Our students work hard throughout the year on their studies, whether that’s preparing for A Level exams, developing skills for apprenticeships, or exploring new opportunities for the future. Leggott Life gives everyone a chance to pause, celebrate the start of the journey, and be part of the family that makes studying at college such a rewarding experience.

We are so proud of how this year’s event turned out and grateful to everyone who joined us, from students to staff to members of the Scunthorpe community. It was the perfect way to kick off another exciting academic year, and we can’t wait to see what the rest of the year brings!
