Menopause Workshop

Menopause and wellbeing workshop for local professionals

John Leggott College welcomed professionals from across a range of agencies to the college for a menopause and wellbeing workshop, providing an opportunity to share knowledge, challenge misconceptions and explore how we can create greater understanding and support in professional environments.

The session was delivered by Becky Harding, Mental Health Officer at John Leggott College, and focused on perimenopause and menopause, including the potential impact these experiences can have on mental health, wellbeing, relationships and working life.

Creating greater understanding and support

Menopause can affect people in many different ways, yet misconceptions and a lack of understanding can sometimes make it difficult for individuals to access the support they need.

The workshop encouraged professionals to consider how they can recognise the potential impact of menopause and respond with greater confidence, compassion and understanding.

It also provided an opportunity for those attending to share experiences, knowledge and perspectives, helping to create a more open conversation around a topic that can have a significant impact on individuals and those around them.

Bringing professionals together

A key part of the workshop was the opportunity to bring professionals from different agencies together to learn from one another and consider how greater awareness can contribute to more supportive workplaces and professional services.

Open conversations like these are important in helping to challenge misconceptions and ensure that people experiencing perimenopause or menopause feel understood and supported.

The impact of menopause can extend well beyond the workplace, affecting family life, relationships, mental health and overall wellbeing. Developing greater awareness among professionals can therefore play an important role in ensuring people receive appropriate understanding and support.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to such an important and valuable discussion, and special thanks to Farzana Khanum for the opportunity to deliver the workshop.

At John Leggott College, we are proud to support conversations that promote greater understanding of mental health, wellbeing and the experiences that can affect people throughout their lives.
