Entry Requirements

There are no formal qualifications required to join the ESOL course.

Assessment Method

The course is assessed through exams , focusing on four skills: Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening. These may be taken at different levels, depending on learner progress. Assessments are conducted under controlled conditions.

About this course

This course is ideal for learners whose first language is not English and who want to improve their English skills for everyday life, work, or future study. It is suitable for those who live in the UK or plan to stay long term, and want to gain a recognised qualification to support their personal, academic or professional goals. Learners may be asked to complete an initial assessment to determine the most appropriate level (Entry 1 to Level 2). This course is suitable for learners with some basic English who want to improve their reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. Learners will also complete the Gateway Skills for Independent Living Qualification, which is assessed through coursework.
