Meet JLC's First Team

John Leggott College's First Team football squad starts this season with a professional club behind it. Through United in Partnership, JLC's footballers train with support from Scunthorpe United FC and 780 Coaching, giving them a route into the game well beyond college fixtures.

Who plays for JLC's First Team this season?

JLC students make up this year's First Team, coached by Phill Dalowsky.

"The standard in training has been high from day one. If we keep that attitude into our fixtures, I think this could be a special season for the First Team."

What is United in Partnership?

United in Partnership is JLC's football pathway, run with Scunthorpe United FC and 780 Coaching. It means students who play for JLC get access to coaching and opportunities linked to the town's professional club throughout their time at college.

For a Year 11 student weighing up where to keep playing after school, that link to Scunthorpe United is one of the clearest differences JLC can offer. Details of the pathway and the college's other teams are on JLC's sports teams page.

When does the First Team play?

The First Team plays Association of Colleges fixtures against other colleges throughout the year. Home games are played on JLC's pitches in Scunthorpe, including the 3G pitch.

Football is one part of a wider programme that also includes basketball, netball, rugby and women's football, all on the college's sport page.
