How can students prepare their UCAS application before 15 October 2026?

Students prepare best by working in four overlapping stages, starting with course choices this week. As a guide, the stages look like this:

• Choices (about one week): Check entry requirements for up to five courses against predicted A-Level grades. Students can apply to Oxford or Cambridge, but not both, in the same cycle.

• Personal statement (two to three weeks): Write a first draft, then take it through at least two rounds of feedback with a tutor.

• Reference (about one week): Give staff time to write and attach the reference. Late personal statements delay this step.

• Submission (aim for three days early): Pay the fee and submit before the final afternoon, when UCAS is at its busiest.
