It's A Wrap Arts Showcase

What Is Happening at John Leggott College on 24th June 2026?

John Leggott College is hosting Its A Wrap, a Creative and Performing Arts Showcase taking place on Wednesday 24th June 2026 from 6pm to 9pm. The event is a celebration of the creativity, skill and ambition of JLC's arts students, and a chance for the local community to see the talent that has been developing on campus throughout the academic year.

The evening brings together three distinct elements: an art exhibition, a fashion show and live music. Together, they represent the breadth of what JLC Arts students have been working towards across a full year of study, performance and creative development.

Admission is free and the event is open to the public. Whether you are a current student, a prospective student, a family member or simply someone who enjoys live performance and creative work, you are welcome to come along and see what JLC Arts has to offer.

What Will Be on Show at the Art Exhibition?

The art exhibition forms a central part of the Its A Wrap showcase, giving students from JLC's art and design programmes the opportunity to present their work to an audience beyond the classroom.

Throughout the year, JLC art students work across a wide range of disciplines, responding to briefs, developing personal projects and building portfolios that reflect their own interests, influences and ideas. The exhibition is the moment when that work is made public, displayed in a way that gives visitors the chance to engage with it properly and understand the thought and craft behind each piece.

For students considering a future in art and design, whether through higher education, professional practice or both, the experience of presenting work in a public exhibition setting is itself a valuable part of their development. Knowing that an audience will see your work changes how you approach it. The Its A Wrap exhibition gives JLC students that experience in a genuinely supportive and celebratory environment.

JLC offers both A Level and vocational art and design courses. For more information, visit the Art and Design course pages at leggott.ac.uk.

What Can Visitors Expect from the Fashion Show?

The fashion show is one of the highlights of the Its A Wrap evening, bringing together student work from JLC's fashion and textiles programme in a live runway format.

Fashion students at JLC develop skills in garment construction, textile design, pattern cutting and the conceptual thinking that underpins contemporary fashion practice. The end-of-year show is the moment when those skills come together in a finished collection, presented to an audience and under real performance conditions.

For visitors, the fashion show offers a window into a creative process that is rarely seen in full. The work on the runway represents months of development, research, experimentation and making. It reflects the individual perspectives and influences that each student brings to their practice, and it demonstrates what is possible when young designers are given the time, the support and the resources to develop their ideas properly.

JLC's Fashion and Textiles A Level prepares students for progression to degree-level study and creative industry careers.

Who Will Be Performing Live Music at the Event?

Live music is the third strand of the Its A Wrap showcase, and it brings a different kind of creative energy to the evening.

JLC's music students study across both A Level and vocational pathways, developing skills in performance, composition, music production and music technology.

The Its A Wrap event provides a live performance opportunity that sits outside the formal assessment environment, giving students the chance to perform to a genuine audience in a celebratory context.

Live music also serves as an anchor for the evening as a whole, creating atmosphere and giving visitors something to engage with as they move through the exhibition and take in the fashion show. The combination of visual art, design and live performance in a single event reflects the genuinely multidisciplinary character of JLC's arts provision.

Why Does an End-of-Year Showcase Matter for Arts Students?

For students in any creative discipline, the opportunity to present work publicly is one of the most important parts of their development. It is one thing to produce work for a tutor or an assessment panel. It is another thing entirely to present it to a broader audience, to see how people respond to it, and to experience what it feels like for your creative work to exist in the world beyond the studio or the classroom.

Its A Wrap gives JLC arts students exactly that experience. It marks the end of a year of study with something that feels like a proper event, not just a submission deadline. It gives students a moment of genuine recognition for what they have achieved. And it gives their families, friends and the wider community the chance to see the standard of creative work being produced at JLC.

For prospective students considering arts subjects at sixth form, attending the showcase is also one of the best ways to understand what studying arts at JLC actually looks like. Seeing finished work, talking to current students and watching live performance gives a far more vivid picture of the arts experience at JLC than any open event or prospectus can.

How Does JLC Support Creative and Performing Arts Students?

JLC Arts is a dedicated strand of the college's provision, supporting students across art and design, fashion, drama, media, film, music, dance and photography.

Students on arts programmes at JLC benefit from specialist facilities, experienced staff and a genuine commitment to creative ambition.

The college's approach to arts education is built on the belief that creative skills are genuinely valuable, both for the students who develop them and for the communities and industries they go on to serve.

Employers across creative sectors consistently identify skills like visual thinking, communication, problem-solving and the ability to develop and present original ideas as essential to their work. JLC's arts programmes develop these skills from the ground up.

For students with higher education ambitions, JLC's arts provision provides excellent preparation for degree-level study in disciplines including fine art, graphic design, architecture, fashion design, music, film, photography and many others. Many JLC arts alumni have progressed to leading university courses and into professional creative careers.
